About Seven Lakes High School
Although the newest high school in Katy ISD, Seven Lakes High School has already established a strong foundation built on encouraging a positive atmosphere and creating cherished traditions. The school prides itself on a welcoming, supportive learning environment for students to grow and flourish.
Seven Lakes offers a variety of student programs to apply these expectations. Organizations include academic decathlon, student council, speech and debate, theatre, band, choir, orchestra, cheerleading and dance team.
Our campus is complete with wireless technology, three computers per classroom, 16 computer labs, and a library with 30 computers, in addition to a full-time instructional technology facilitator. Other features include a performing arts center, a ninth grade center, two dark rooms, four gymnasiums, four art labs, nine tennis courts and 25 science labs.
We hope to make Seven Lakes High School a place that provides the best academic programs anywhere in the state so that students are challenged and well-prepared for college and the workforce but can also look back on their high school memories as fun and rewarding.

HEAD COACH: Darryl Metcalfe
2008 will be coach Metcalfe’s 25th season as a varsity soccer coach. He grew up playing soccer in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1982 where he captained the club soccer team. His first coaching job was at Westfield H.S. in Spring ISD where his teams won three district titles and advanced to the state championship match in 1986. From 1991-2005 he coached at James E. Taylor H.S. here in Katy ISD. In fifteen seasons at Taylor his teams never missed the playoffs; winning eleven district titles and again advancing to the state championship game in 2000. With an overall record of 380-102-56, coach Metcalfe is one of the most successful coaches in the state and the only coach to take two different schools to the 5-A state tournament.
JV BLUE COACH: Jimmy Krueger
This will be coach Krueger's first year as a high school coach. After an outstanding career at Katy High School which included a trip to the Regional Finals and numerous individual awards, coach Krueger went on to star at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas on scholarship. We are lucky to have a young coach like Jimmy who has played the game at a high level and look forward to his work with our younger players.
JV ORANGE COACH: Jay Kolkman
2008 will be coach Kolkman's 6th year coaching junior varsity soccer in KISD. In each of his five seasons his squads finished atop the district standings with a cumulative record of 44-6-3. He holds a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's in health science. Coach Kolkman has also coached Tennis and Track in Texas public schools.
